MT.
SHASTA WORKSHOPS Mount Shasta is located in Northern California's Siskiyou County, midway between the Pacific Northwest and the San Francisco Bay Area or Reno-Tahoe. It is an area commonly referred to as the Shasta Cascade Wonderland. The fresh mountain air will bring a spring to your step and make life seem as if the weight of the world has been removed from your back! Click this line to view live images of Mount Shasta! History: The town's
down-home feeling makes it a popular destination for visitors seeking to
get away from the bustle of the big city. Within about nine miles in each
of three directions are other interesting sights and towns. To the south
is Dunsmuir, once a bustling railroad town. To the east is McCloud, where
now only the slightest remnants remain as a reminder that this was once
- not too long ago (late 50's) - a prosperous lumber town with magneto telephones
and wooden sidewalks! To the north, lies Weed, California, originally chosen
as the site of a lumber mill because its wind currents hastened the drying
of milled wood and thus made for quicker profit! |

Site Info: Mt. Shasta city is brimming with beautiful surroundings and friendly people. Getting there is very easy; about four hours north of Sacramento, next to Interstate 5 and nearby Highways 89 and 97. At one of our painting locations it's possible to camp, fish and paint all at the same spot! So bring your license, your fishing rod and your camping gear, or stay in one of Mt. Shasta's many excellent motels. While the area is beautifully remote, you'll be from motel to our painting site in less than ten minutes! In spite of the site's remoteness, the terrain is relatively flat and easily traversed by young and old alike. | |
|
Site Features: You'll be able to paint everything associated with a mountainous wonderland, crystal clear, cool, rushing mountain streams, interesting structures, hills, large rocks and forests, and mountains (including majestic Mount Shasta) ! You'll breathe truly fresh, clean air and drink the world's greatest tasting water! Be sure to bring your camera and sketch books! For the non-painters in the group, there's outdoor recreation such as golfing, mountain climbing, camping, river rafting, hiking mountain trails, fishing and sight seeing. Nearby Lake Siskiyou is perfect for swimming, boating, fishing and windsurfing. Mount Shasta city features nearby fine dining, including American, Californian, Chinese, French, Italian, Mexican and Vegetarian Cuisine. |
