CAROL CARTER
- An appealing presentation and some wonderful acrylic and watercolor
paintings. A variety of subjects are exhibited. Fast loading, easy to
navigate and artistically appealing. Very impressive, indeed. The Carol
Carter web site must certainly be among the best on the web. It has managed
to raise the overall level of excellence by several yards! |
DONNA BARNES-ROBERTS
- Donna's page is "A Home Page For Lovers of Fine Art." Her approach to
site design and navigation is both humorous and effective. At time of
entry, the site index includes- Gallery & Essays on Art; Art Exhibits
in the Pasadena/Glendale Area; Biography; Workshops & Artist Travel; and
Links to Pages for Art Lovers. |
DAVID PETERSON -
David is having fun pushing himself toward excellence. He notes,
"Many years ago in high school I knew what I wanted to do with my
life. Over the years I lost sight of that dream of being a professional
artist ... I did not use my artistic talent to draw and paint." He
further notes, "Then I discovered watercolor. I am in a hurry to
paint ... I paint to grow closer to nature." David is determined
to paint 100 watercolors and post all or most of them on the web. He paints
frequently, so you can easily watch his progress from week to week. Great
idea. Let him know your thoughts! |
GERALD O'CONNELL
- Gerald's web site is called Kurai Hoshi Gallery, where he displays his
talent with many media. This link will take you directly to Gerald's Watercolour
page where you see several beautiful landscape paintings. From there,
you can use his index to view other areas of creativity, including a rather
extensive collection of links to other sites. |
JOHN N. STEWART
- In his personal statement Stewart says, "A lot of people wonder
why I paint in such diverse styles - I've been told that 'you will never
succeed in art unless you do one thing well.' To me, that statement spells
death to the creative process. I have to stretch out and try everything.
I have experimented with varied types of media (i.e. welded metals, collage,
oil, watercolor, pastel, etching etc.). I just enjoy whatever I am working
with." John's site shows the joy and creativity with which he works (including
original music) |
MARY ANN BECKWITH
- Mary Ann Beckwith has taught watercolor, drawing and design at Michigan
Technological University since 1973 helping engineers- and scientists-to-be
exercise both sides of their brains. Mary Ann's book, "Creative
Watercolor- A Step by Step Guide and Showcase" (1996), is in its second
printing. Her work is also featured in five books [listed on her site].
Mary Ann states, "Artistry is not bounded by the arts. I tell my students
that as they become more confident in their own creativity it will make
them a better engineer, mathematician, or forester. My goal is to help
students reach their greatest potential." Ms. Beckwith received the university's
distinguished teaching award in 1996. If it is true one is known by the
company one keeps, MTU is in good hands. You can read a review of and/or
place an order for "Creative Watercolor - Step-by-Step Guide and Showcase,"
from my Book
Store page. |
MAURY'S WATERCOLOR
PAGE - Maury Kettell has some interesting things going on

we wanted to do, was each of us to paint a watercolor based on a common
theme." Detail are available at the link shown above. |

| CAROL
EVANS - Carol paints the natural beauty of the West Coast
of Canada and the Pacific Northwest. Many of her watercolours portray
British Columbia and the Pacific Northwest on the beautiful and rugged
pacific shores on the west coast of Vancouver Island. Her ability to create
intensity of colour and her attention to the subtleties of light are trademarks
of her work |

J. Watson. The site also offers the many delights of St Abbs Head National

|
KAREN JACOBS - Contemporary realism and abstract
paintings on canvas and paper. Text from Karen's site,"... loose and visually
abstract expressions of shapes and designs, as if seen through prisms
of shattered glass. Besides pattern like tracks, each painting contains
large splotches of color that resemble spilled cans of paint or Rorschach
tests ... Oriental carpets, tracks and abstraction have given Jacobs'
art a creatively new and singularly unique direction." |
| KELLYANN
BROWN GALLERY OF ART - Kellyann's happiness, sharing attitude,
love of watercolor and the process of discovery shines brightly here!
She says, "I am a fledgling artist ... I have started to keep a "journal"
... to show my students ways to make their journals come alive." Kellyann's
Gallery supports the concept of keeping painting "simple" and is one part
of a "family approach" to the Home Page concept |
| LIZ
DONOVAN - Liz is interested in capturing sunlight in her
paintings. She is the author of a Northlight book titled, "Painting Sunlit
Still Lifes in Watercolor." Details and an Amazon.com link are available
on her site. I am particularly drawn to the beautiful, abstract shapes
on which her watercolors appear to be based. Be sure to check out her
succinct step-by-step demonstration page too [I could use Liz as an editor
- smile]! |
| MARK
DANIELS - MARK DANIELLS is an artist living on the North
Shore of Kauai, in the beautiful town of Hanalei. His web site features
a collection of tropical watercolors and limited edition prints. My wife
and I first discovered Mark's watercolors and met his wife the year of
hurricane Iniki. He graciously spends much time talking "watercolor,"
"art and business," and "the Internet" with us. Mark has a wonderful home
right off the main road of Hanalei directly across the street from the
Hanalei School and an adjacent studio gallery (which he built himself).
You can't miss it! Visitors are welcome to drop in, talk with him and
see him working on his latest creations. His wife runs a child care business
next to the studio so someone is almost always there! |
