BABELFISH - Babelfish is a free language translation service that translate Web pages from one language to another (just type in the Web page's address), or any words and phrases you type in. Babelfish will translate from- English to French, French to English, English to Spanish, Spanish to English, English to German, German to English, English to Italian, Italian to English, English to Portuguese Portuguese to English. Babelfish doesn't do a perfect job, but it's usually adequate to get the gist of it.

EMPYREAL ROSE - Hot air to spare! This is the home page of good friend, neighbor, art patron, and Chief Pilot, Gary Rominger! Besides art and politics, Gary loves to talk about hot air ballooning, tarantulas, micro breweries and all things Macintosh. I'm proud to write that my wife and I took our first hot air balloon ride with Gary and it was a blast. We even had the opportunity to crew for him (lots of work but the fun outweighs the work effort)!. I can highly recommend hot air ballooning! FRESH AIR - Terri Gross, National Public Radio (KXPR, 88.9 FM, Locally). One of the best talk radio hosts one could imagine. If you haven't listened to Terri, I highly recommend her show! No hot air here, just fresh air. True excellence in broadcasting!

INTERNATIONAL MS SUPPORT FOUNDATION - This is the site of a non-profit organization for people with multiple sclerosis and their families. It is for those who have been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) or put on that notorious non diagnostic list of probable/possible. This web site is specifically written and designed to aid those with visual, hearing and cognitive difficulties. It is, in part the work of fellow watercolorist Jean Sumpton. I recommend it highly.

LAKOTA INFORMATION HOME PAGE - A resource site for those interested in Native American Studies, and the Lakota and Dakota peoples in particular (sometimes referred to as Sioux or Siouan peoples) . The site features a large number of useful resources, including an 820-item bibliography, language resources, electronic texts, full-text treaties and resources addressing current legal concerns, historical essays, related links and information on Lakota and Dakota educational institutions.
MOMA ONLINE PROJECTS - The Museum of Modern Art presents this listing of online projects. Two featured sites are Stir-Fry and InterNyet, by Associate Curator of Film and Video, Barbara London. London traveled to China in 1997 and Russia in 1998, sending back these "dispatches" on the local arts scenes. She embarked on these journeys equipped with a laptop computer, Hi-8 video camera, digital still camera, and cassette tape recorder. Stir-Fry and InternNyet are online scrapbooks, chronicling her experiences via written journal entries, still photographs of artists and their work, and audio and video clips. Also included are a time capsule made for the tenth anniversary of World AIDS Day, Peter Halley's Exploding Cell, and Technology in the 1990s, an ongoing series of symposia that explore the promise and impact of new technologies on contemporary culture.

PARENT SOUP - Parent Soup is an online community for parents and where parents can exchange views. An example is Parents' Pick ... where parents share their opinions on books, baby products, toys, computers, web sites and movies. The site also features a parenting library with information in sixteen major topics and a Baby Name Finder with information on more than 5,000 names.
PARENT'S GUIDE TO THE INTERNET - The US Department of Education 24 page pamphlet--a simple and concise guide to the Internet for parents. Its thirteen sections include a brief discussion of what the Internet is, how to get started using the Internet even if you don't have a computer, basic computer terminology, pointers to give young children when dealing with communicating on the Internet, and a brief but excellent list of annotated family sites. 3/2
PEACE GALLERY - Peace Gallery presents over 500 photos from around the world taken by Peace Corps Volunteers. PERSONALITY-ANNENBERG/CPB PROJECT - At time of entry the exhibit from the Annenberg/CPB Project explores how we create and define our internal identities and external personas. This site offers sections on Reputation, Behavior, Thoughts and Feelings, the Unconscious, Genes and Society, and Human Nature. There are a number of hands-on activities, including a personality test and a section that allows users to create a story about a picture and analyze their interpretations. THE UNITED STATES HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL MUSEUM - Not just a Jewish museum, but a reminder of the importance of freedom for all. Among many features, are the Images of Internment, an on-line exhibition of the art of Josef Nassy. This site is a reminder of what prejudice and hatred can do to Jews, the physically and mentally handicapped, Jehovah's witnesses, homosexuals, Roma (Gypsies), Soviet POWs, people who do not agree politically ... and to all people of all nations and of all generations. 3/29/9

ZDNET HELP CHANNEL - This is a site for anyone (beginner, intermediate, or expert) who wants to improve his/her computer skills, regardless of platform. There is help info for Macintosh, Windows, the Internet, hardware, office tips, info on how to keep your computer healthy, use of applications, game tips and tips in general. Additionally, you]ll find help with "bugs" of all kinds, a "How Do I..." assistance section, some good downloads, books as resources, and an "Ask the Experts" section.
