"Since
I am beginning, this was 'educational' for me. You gave a lot of energy
... very organized. Lots of 'How To' ... Excellent!"
 Some
of our Mt. Shasta Watercolor Workshop participants!
This particular group, was an excellent, compatible mix of personalities.
The group's experience ranges from "first time" beginners to "veterans"
with many years of painting experience! We all learned from each other!
It is safe to say our shared adventure will be long remembered!
The
critique was "essential! Great energy and comparison feedback. Appreciated
the handouts for working on our own."

Early Saturday
morning. Everyone's had breakfast, received a briefing, gathered materials,
etc., in preparation for our outdoor adventure. Our site is nestled
at the bottom of a lush canyon and surrounded by the beautiful trees
of the Shasta Cascade wonderland. There is not a cloud in the sky! The
air is clear, light, and sweet and easy to breathe! Our group is brimming
with enthusiasm, goodwill and expectation! So with early morning light
and the symphonic background of a flowing stream, we begin with a brief
explanation of materials and discuss the particular approach and goals
for the day.
"I've
been painting many small pieces since (the workshop) and thanks to
your demos I've begun to know more and more about how to approach
watercolor creatively."

Our Sunday site is
a bend in the river where upstream rushing water breaks into a quiet
pool. The pool is often used as a "swimming hole" for those who will
brave the cold of the water. But today it greets our group of painters
and a fisherman from San Jose, California (who will become part of our
subject matter). The careful observer will note our site is equipped
with natural, amphitheater "rock seating!"
"I
like your explanations of what you're doing (while) demonstrating!"

The demonstration
is done. Time for everyone to paint! This is a shot of some of our group
preparing to paint "the big one!"
"I
really enjoyed your explanation of the 'good art' in each person's
painting (during the critique period) - this was great for me ...
I picked up my painting again!"

Keith gets a special
award for combining creativity and comfort by using this simple, innovative,
"up close and personal" approach to outdoor painting equipment! Not
surprisingly, Keith brings this very same approach to his painting technique
too! Simple, direct, beautifully conceived shapes and colors combined
with painterly brush strokes helped Keith show us a powerful visual
statement!

The
workshop "... had a very positive effect on me. The site, the instructor,
the comradery. I'd love to do it again next year!"
